Ruth Frick passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at New Hope Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant, with her family by her side. She was 100. Ruth was born April 9, 1923, in Essen, Germany, daughter of the late Karl and Minnie (Diekotter) Hopp. She married John LaBrecque on October 4, 1941, in Flint, Michigan. After his death in 1990, Ruth married Carl Frick on May 22, 1992, in a ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where Ruth was a longtime member. She was employed by Central Michigan University as an office manager in continuing education and community services. She retired in 1985 after 24 years. Prior to that she had worked for Ferro Manufacturing from 1948-1961. Ruth enjoyed quilting, mushrooming, camping and traveling, especially her time at Central Lake. She loved to make cookies for everyone in the family for Christmas. Ruth liked to play cards, euchre being her favorite and her occasional shot of whiskey. Ruth is survived by her children, Larry (Linda) LaBrecque of Williamsburg, VA, Lynn (Carol) LaBrecque of Auburn, Cathy Snider of Remus, Cheryl (Kris) Hoisington of Mt. Pleasant, Christine (Arden) Caszatt of Shepherd, and daughter in-law, Vicki (Lenny) Seal of Shalimar, FL; sister, Ellen Spohn of Columbiaville; step children, Joseph (Trudie) Frick, Hedwig Frick, Thomas (Marianne) Frick, Molly (Ron) Riley, Betty (Abbas) Bahadori, and Stephen Frick; 38 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John LaBrecque in 1990 and Carl Frick in 2013; son, Steven LaBrecque; son in law, Paul Snider; grandson, Neil Cook; and brothers, George and Jim Serven. A Funeral Mass for Ruth will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Thomas J. McNamara will preside. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday, one hour prior to Mass. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All are invited to a luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Foundation. The family would like to give a special thanks to New Hope Assisted Living for the care they gave their mother.
