Ruth E. Machuta, 68, of Mt. Pleasant died Monday, March 22, 2004 at her residence. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A private family service will be held on Friday with interment in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Ruth was born July 14, 1935, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Kenneth and Lena (Mumford) Eagly. She married Ben Machuta February 14, 1953. She was a Day Care provider for 20 years and also worked as a hostess at the Texan restaurant for 15 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking but the greatest joy in her life was her family, especially her love for her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by eight children, Gloria (James) Jones of Coleman, Carla Travis of Grand Blanc, Marsha (Tim) Hovey of Sanford, Bill (Patty) Machuta of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Lisa) Machuta of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Heather Harris) Machuta of Mt. Pleasant, Chris Machuta of Seattle, Wa., and Cary Machuta of Grand Rapids; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and her brother, Kenneth (Carol) Eagly Jr. of Northport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben in 1979; and two grandchildren.
