It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Anne Sowle announces her passing at the age of 88, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. Ruth Anne was born on May 4, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Bugbee) Sowle. She was the youngest of three children and spent her entire childhood in Mt. Pleasant. Ruth Anne graduated from Sacred Heart Academy with the highest honors in piano and music. She furthered her education at Central State Teacher's College (now Central Michigan University), earning a master's degree in Theater and Dramatic Arts. Upon her graduation from CMU, Ruth Anne took several teaching jobs until the early 1970's, when she moved to Saginaw. She taught theater and dramatic arts in the Saginaw Intermediate School District's Eisenhower High School until her retirement on June 7, 1996. Ruth Anne shared her passion for traveling with family and friends while traveling nationally and internationally many times. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her deep love of music and playing the piano. Ruth Anne was a very religious person and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant throughout her entire life, as well St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Saginaw. Besides being active in Sacred Heart Parish, Ruth Anne was also a member of the General Federation Women's Club (GFWC), The Red Hat Society, the Lion's Club of Mt. Pleasant, and the Michigan State Retired School Personnel (MARSP). Most importantly, she was a founding and very dedicated member of The Isabella Community Cancer Services (CCS). She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. "Sid" and Elizabeth (Bugbee) Sowle; and brother William F. "Bill" Sowle, Jr. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Mass for Ruth Anne will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Andrew Booms will preside. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass. Immediately following, all are invited to a luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R Lux Family Funeral Home). Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery on a later date.
