Samuel Anthony Richards

Samuel Richards, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.  He was born on January 20, 1956, in Grand Ledge, Mi., son of the late Eli and Grace (Nye) Richards.  Sam graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1974 and continued his education at Central Michigan University. Where he received his bachelor's in social work.  He worked for Social Services for more than 20 years.  He then spent several years working for AT&T, retiring as an engineer.  Sam enjoyed traveling up north to his cabin in Benzonia and fishing in the nearby lakes.  He also liked to build things, work electrical, plumbing and carpentry.  Sam is survived by his significant other, Penny Fulkerson of Mt Pleasant; daughters, Mariah (Bruce Sattler) Richards, and Elisha (Matthew) Dubs of Auburn; grandchildren, Savannah and Hayden Foster of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Rosemary (Tony) Gallagher of Carson City; niece, Kristin and nephews; Bobby, Danny and John.  He was preceded in death by both parents; siblings, Dan Richards and Randy Richards; and nephew, Paul Richards.  Cremation has taken place at the Memorial Fields Crematory in Breckenridge.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
