Sandra Kay Greenwald

Sandra Greenwald, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at home with her family by her side.  She was born on August 31, 1953, in Hillsdale, MI, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Neil and M. Ernestine (Keim) Bintz.  Sandra was a member of the graduating class of 1971 from Mt. Pleasant High School.  She continued her education at Central Michigan University, receiving a master's degree in counseling with an emphasis on Infant Mental Health.  Sandy was a long-time employee of Community Mental Health for Central Michigan, working there as an Infant Mental Health Specialist for 27 years, promoting secure and nurturing parent-infant relationships.  Her work to improve the lives of young families made an impact that will last generations.  Sandy married the love of her life, Dennis Woehler, on May 24, 1997, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. In her free time, Sandy was a lifetime member of the Methodist church choir and the CMU Festival Chorus. She volunteered at the Infant Pantry after retirement, as well as the Methodist church's Little Downtown Pantry and the CMU SAC. For many years, she loved and excelled at regular Thursday night pool games with like-minded friends, beating most of them most of the time.  She traveled widely with her husband going motorcycle camping in the Black Hills, Glacier National Park, the Beartooth Highway, the Canadian Rockies, all over Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Quebec and Ontario, and circling Lake Superior more than once. Travels also included two Caribbean cruises and a Mediterranean cruise, taking thousands of photos in the process. Sandy's most cherished pastimes included relaxing at the family cottage on Chief Lake, supporting the environment, and spending time with her grandkids.  Cross-country skiing, hiking, birding, and nature photography were also passions of hers.  Sandra is survived by her husband; daughters, Leah (Daniel) Segura of Midland, MI and Ellen (Jerry) Lowrey of Darien, IL; sister, Deborah Bintz-Clark of Philadelphia, PA; and brother, David Bintz of Mt. Laurel, NJ; and her grandchildren Aria, Elijah, and Audra Segura, and Nile and Sage Lowrey.  She is preceded in death by both parents and brother-in-law, Nate Clark.  A funeral service for Sandra will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at the Mount Pleasant First United Methodist Church (400 S Main St, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858) with Pastor Julie Greyerbiehl officiating. Immediately following will be a luncheon at the church. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil (and time for sharing) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday at 10:00 am- one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the William Ellis Brockman Infant Pantry through the Community Compassion Network.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.  To sign the online guest book or leave a condolence for the family please visit www.CharlesRLux.com.
