Sandy Pankhurst, 48, of Mt. Pleasant died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 16, 2006 as a result of a house fire. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Richard Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Township Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Special Olympics. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Sandy was born January 5, 1958 in Alma, the daughter of Samuel E. and Ruth V. (Weichel) Pankhurst. She attended school at Sunnyfield in Mt. Pleasant and Moarc in Paris, MI. She was a frequent participant in Michigan Special Olympics and a member of the Blanchard Church of God. She had worked for Mid-Michigan Industries since 1980. Sandy is survived by three brothers, Paul (Janet) Dean of Midland, Sam (Marcia) Pankhurst of Mt. Pleasant and Ike (Mary Jo) Pankhurst of St. Louis; her sister, Donna (Dave) Brown of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth in 1981; and her father, Samuel in 1995.
