Sarah Falsetta Fortino, 84, of Mt. Pleasant died at home on September 25, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the Thomas John Sova Music Memorial Scholarship Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Sarah was born May 26, 1917 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Cavallo) Falsetta. She married Victor Charles Fortino October 27, 1940 in Lansing. They moved to Mt. Pleasant where the family ran the Fortino Beverage Company for over 40 years. Sarah loved to bake and cook. Many remember her generosity. She made spaghetti sauce, lasagna, and pies for friends and family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Sarah is survived by her children, Jim (Sharon) Fortino of Colorado, Vicki (Gary) Sova, Margaret (Greg) Travis, Mary (Tom) Krapohl, and Chuck (Merrie Jo) Fortino, all of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Anthony Sova, Chuck Fortino, Julie Fortino, Sarah (Steve) Marr, Spencer Krapohl, Carly Krapohl, Vicki Krapohl, and Gina Travis; great grandchildren, Miranda Fortino and Victor Charles Fortino IV; and two brothers, William (Carolyn) Falsetta of Lansing and Sam (Stella) Falsetta of Mecosta. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; beloved grandson, Thomas John Sova; sister, Mary Jo Falsetta; brothers, John, Tony, Tommy, and Dick Falsetta; nieces, Mary Jo Fortino DeLau and Vickie Falsetta; and nephews, Paul Bobo' Fortino, Robert Bobby' Fortino, Richard Dicky Chuck' Falsetta and Gary Walker. Because of Sarah's need for blood in recent years, the family would like to thank the Red Cross and all of those who donated. The family would also like to thank the caregivers, Nanette Watters, Deb Bardos, Roberta Gilbert and Tanya Cartwright for the love and special care given to Sarah, Hospice of Central Michigan for their help as well as Kim Keebler of Lake for her visits.
