Sarah M. Stribley, 91, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at her home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 with Father Robert Byrne presiding. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging Senior Center, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Peg was born November 1, 1911, in Pachuca, Mexico, the daughter of Fred and Hilda (Skewes) Pratt. She married Fred Stribley on March 2, 1944, in Pachuca HGO, Mexico. She worked as an evening nurse supervisor at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, retiring in 1976. Prior to that, she was the hospital administrator for the American-British Hospital in Mexico City from the mid 1930's to 1944. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and attended the Isabella County Commission on Aging Senior Center. She was also a Gold Key volunteer and volunteered for the Red Cross. She loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, canoeing, swimming and handmade crafts. But the most precious thing in her life was her family and friends. Peg is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Stribley of Mt. Pleasant, four children, Peggy (Bill) Sowle of Mt. Pleasant, Richard (Diane) Stribley of San Antonio, TX, Ruth (Dan) Darrah of Linden, and Kathy Stribley of Syracuse, NY; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Fredrick (Alice) Pratt of Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters, Isabel (Richard) Stribley of Williamston and Lillian (Octavio) Hosking of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings.
