Shirley Sheppard, 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Shirley will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. concluding with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation and the Eight Point Lake Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Shirley was born June 25, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Melvin and Philomena (Lawens) Honeywell. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949 and married William Sheppard on Aug. 11, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church. A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish, Shirley was employed by Sacred Heart as the parish bookkeeper for over 30 years. She was very active with her parish family. Some of her favorite pastimes included fishing, playing cards, gardening, spending time at the cottage on Eight Point Lake, and mostly, sharing time with family and friends. Shirley is survived by her children, Dan (Denise) Sheppard of Gladwin and Lori (John) Trainor of Rosebush; five grandchildren, Beverly (Lavere) Sheppard, William (fiance, Crystal) Sheppard, Bradley Sheppard, Jenna (Jason) Borrelli, and Jaclyn Trainor; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Caleb, Tyler, Macy, Carter and Lincoln; and one sister, Betty Elder of Evart; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 1984; son, Michael in 1988; and one brother, Robert Honeywell.
