Shirley Ann (Koenke) Whitfield, age 76 of Weidman passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital.

Shirley was born on May 5, 1943 in Detroit; she was the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie (Barsuhn) Koenke. She grew up and graduated from the Detroit area schools. Shirley married Charles Whitfield on April 15, 1972 in St. Clair Shores, MI. Shirley had a passion for playing board games with her family, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and sewing; but her most cherished pastime was spending time with her family and church family. She was a member of the Weidman Baptist Church.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her son, John Whitfield; daughter, Heather (Steven) Shackelford; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Dennis Koenke, Ronald (Connie) Koenke, and Carol Fahncke.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; parents; and sister, Virginia Hunt.

Services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Weidman Baptist Church, 7555 W. Airline Road with Pastor Dean Willard officiating. Visitation will be heldtwo hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Shirley's honor may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church.
