Stanley J. Kowallic, 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Stanley was born October 11, 1912, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Catherine (Tszna) Kowallic. He married Dorothy A. Lackie on May 24, 1941, at St. Charles Church in Leaton. He worked for Cernek Brothers for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator. He loved to travel and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and his precious great grandchild. Stanley is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant and their children, Mary Greetis of Boyne City, Joseph (Barbara) Kowallic of Mt. Pleasant, Jan (Jack) Whitmore of Grand Ledge, and Barbara (Jim) Kunik of Shepherd; six grandchildren, Douglas Kunik, Amy (Greg) Hudas, Jon (Brooke) Greetis, Jeffrey Greetis, Christopher Kowallic, and Kevin (Brenda) Kowallic; one great grandchild, Michael Joseph Kowallic; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Kowallec of Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Kowallec; and sister, Josephine Zeneberg.
