Stella M. Breidenstein, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Woodland Hospice. A Funeral Mass for Stella will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held presiding. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the mass begins. Family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the church or Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Stella was born September 27, 1922, in Grand Rapids, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Suchocki) Opacki. She owned and operated the Bird Bar and Grill (The Flamingo) for more than 35 years. She was a very generous person. She always made room in her home for strangers during the holidays who had nowhere to go. Stella is survived by her three children, Mary (John) Jaffee of Indianapolis, Barbara (Bob) Elmore of Mt. Pleasant and David Breidenstein of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Lois Breidenstein of Rosebush; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Breidenstein of Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Dan Breidenstein; brothers, Eddie and Al Opacki; sister, Dorothy Dzierwa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Berne (Nina) Breidenstein, Clarence (Gretchen) Breidenstein, Gene (Ruth) Breidenstein, Helen (Bob) Sowle, Mary (Bill) Ardner; brother-in-law, Jim Breidenstein, and sister-in-law, Stella Breidenstein.
