Sterling Dominic (Shamlin) Gepford

With profound sadness, we share that Sterling Dominic (Shamlin) Gepford, age 20, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on June 29, 2025, after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born in Alma, Michigan to Tiffany Gepford and the late Sammy Shamlin, Sterling brought joy and light to all who knew him. He grew up surrounded by a loving family who admired his boundless energy and kind spirit. Sterling graduated from Mt. Pleasant Public Schools in 2023 and worked as a tow truck operator for Green's Towing and Recovery, a role that reflected his willingness to help others, often at a moment's notice.

Sterling was known for having the biggest heart in the world. He was always smiling, quick to laugh, and eager to brighten someone's day. His love of music and DJing made every gathering more vibrant. Whether he was roller skating, working hard, or spending time with friends, Sterling had a gift for bringing people together.

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Tiffany Gepford; his father, Chad (Brittany) Gittus; and his siblings, Keyia Shamlin, Sammy Shamlin, Dylan Gittus, and Cole Gittus. Sterling also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Greg (Jane) Gepford, Deonna (Alan) Kremsreiter, Jeremy Gepford, Tom (Jodi) Gittus, and Scott (Danelle) Gittus; honorary aunt, Amberly Zimmer; extended family, and countless friends whose lives are richer for having known him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tom Gepford and Shirleen Gepford; paternal grandparents, Larry and Ranee Gittus; and aunt and uncle, Debra and Rick Lackie.

Sterling's memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved him. His kindness, warmth, and laughter will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. A service celebrating Sterling's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Celebrant Michelle Sponseller officiating. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery concluding with a luncheon at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, from 3-7 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
