Susan Marie Sandy

Susan Sandy, 76, of Shepherd, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Born on July 28, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Esther Irene (Halfmann) Scully. A 1966 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Sue married the love of her life, Dale Edward Sandy, on June 17, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They shared over 50 years of happily married life together before Dale's passing in 2020. Sue was employed by Nartker Insurance in Shepherd for over 30 years, retiring in 2013. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant First Church of Christ and enjoyed sewing, gardening, walking, and camping with Dale. She loved spending time with her family and was known as the best grandma ever! Left to cherish Sue's memory are her children, Jeff (Tina) Sandy of Kansas City, MO and Kim (Mark) Yates of Shepherd; grandchildren, Casey (Lauren) Hart, Bailee (Levi) Anderson, Hannah Yates, Payton Sandy (fiancée Zac Fox), Morgan Yates, and Mary Yates; great grandchildren, Giavanna Hart, Adrianna Hart, Creed Hart, Quincee Anderson, and Lincoln Anderson; siblings, Diane (Mark)  McConnell of Clare, and Kay (Rick) Pieratt, Tom (Sue) Scully, and Dan (Emily) Scully, all of Mt. Pleasant; in-laws, Carol and Frank Graham, Jim and Joni Sandy, and Ruth Dush; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Esther Scully; husband, Dale Sandy; brother, Mike Scully; infant niece, Christine Hauck; niece, Michelle Hauck; parents in-law, Howard and Beulah Sandy; and brother in-law, Mike Dush. A memorial service honoring Sue's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Alissa Davis officiating. A luncheon will follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Sue ashes will be laid to rest in Memorial Gardens Cemetery during a private family ceremony.   Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant First Church of Christ or MyMichigan Hospice.
