Suzanne Kane, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. She was born September 21, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late William Vincent and Margaret Mary (Pianowski) Butcko. Sue graduated in 1940, at the age of 17, as valedictorian of her class. She married Thomas Eugene "Gene" Kane on February 8, 1947, in Detroit and they celebrated 42 years of marriage until his death in 1989. On August 20, 1999, Sue married Charles Vannorsdall at Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Pleasant. Sue was employed as an executive secretary for the vice president of public affairs at Central Michigan University for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish often volunteering on funeral luncheons. She was an avid reader, belonged to a book club, garden club, and bridge club, volunteered on a library committee and for the ladies auxiliary at the hospital, and was an avid supporter of Art Reach. More than anything, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. Sue is survived by her husband, Charles Vannorsdall; five children, Pattie (Mark) Wampler of Chesterfield Twp., Maureen (Max) Machuta of Traverse City, Daniel (Jean) Kane of Mt. Pleasant, Roberta (Victor) Wezensky of Walled Lake, and Christine Clark of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren, Traci (Jaison) Hrobar, Rob Sweeney, Adam Sweeney, Shannon Sweeney, Daniel (Dayna) Machuta, Madison (Adam) Woodworth, Sara (Luke) Blosser, Jamie Wezensky, Adam Wezensky, and Thomas Clark; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Logan, Jaiden, Torin, Isabella, Chase, Avery, Carson, and Claire; and one great-great grandchild, Cannon. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gene Kane; and all six of her siblings.  A private Memorial Service for Sue will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home and will be streamed live on the funeral home's Facebook page. To watch the service click ( Watch Live Stream ). Father Loren Kalinowski will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella County Medical Care Facility or Sacred Heart Academy Foundation.
