Sylvester E. Wentworth, 97, of Rosebush died Thursday, October 25, 2001. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at St. Henry Church in Rosebush. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. There will be no viewing prior to Tuesday's mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Sam was born February 9, 1904, in LaGrange, Indiana, the son of Albert and Anias (Cour) Wentworth. He married Mable Dora in 1930, Margaret Allen in 1965, and Florence Martin in 1976. He worked for Michigan Sugar Company as a Field Representative. He also farmed. He was a member of St. Henry Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 11117 in Rosebush. He was an avid bowler, last bowling at age 93, and enjoyed hunting. Sam is survived by eight children, James (Joyce) Wentworth of Weidman, Bernard (Sharon) Wentworth of Rosebush, Dick (Bev) Wentworth of Auburn, Chuck (Sue) Wentworth of Ocala, Fla., Patricia (Ed) Brown of Rosebush, Don (Phyllis) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, Ted (Rose) Wentworth of Sterling Heights, and Mike (Patty) Wentworth of Clare; two daughters-in-law, Alma Wentworth and Connie Wentworth, both of Mt. Pleasant; 46 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mable in 1964, Margaret in 1975 and Florence in 1991; two sons, Daniel in 1990 and Larry in 2000; two brothers, Henry and George; and three sisters, Stella Green, Mary Williams and Anastasia Mullin.
