Teresa Ann Ryan

Teresa Ann Ryan, born Teresa Ann Dewhurst on September 17, 1953, in Perivale, England, passed away peacefully at her home in Mt. Pleasant on December 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished daughter of Patricia Stace and was later adopted by her father, Alan Hetherington. Teresa moved to Lansing, Michigan, with her family at the age of 15 and graduated from Lansing Sexton High School. Her marriage to Richard Opdyke was blessed with a son, Michael. Her second marriage to Gary Ryan was blessed with a daughter Stacey.

Teresa was a devoted mother to her children, Michael (Gretchen Golnek) Opdyke and Stacey (Bryson) Church, and a proud grandmother to Brianna and Sadie. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Sinclair. Teresa was predeceased by her mother, Patricia, her adoptive father, Alan, and her sisters, Janet, Linda, and Paula.

Teresa's life was filled with love for her family and her British heritage, which she cherished deeply. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and gardening. Her British accent was a testament to her enduring connection to her homeland.

The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate Teresa's life and legacy. Those planning expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
