Thelma Walker, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Woodland Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice, Isabella Community Soup Kitchen or Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Thelma was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Agnes J. (Daniels) Marz. She married Thomas F. Walker on May 18, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish where she volunteered for funeral luncheons. She also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen and enjoyed bowling. Thelma is survived by eight children, Jan (Ray) Klosowski of Mt. Pleasant, Marcia (Sam) Pankhurst of Lakeview, Tim (Valerie) Walker of DeWitt, Brad (Jane) Walker of Mt. Pleasant, Patty (Tom) Fox of Mt. Pleasant, Judy (Jeff) Sherwood of St. Louis, Ann (Kurt) Fisher of Mt. Pleasant, and Doug Walker (Debbie) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, William Marz of Grand Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 2007; five sisters, Marian Reid, Helen Smith, Rita Hauck, Margaret Theisen, and Eloise Theisen; and two brothers, Charles and James Marz.
