Thomas Evans, 90, of Kalamazoo and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Heritage Community in Kalamazoo. A Funeral Mass for Tom will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Envelopes are available at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Tom was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late John Bertrand and Marie Evans. A 1943 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II as a motor machinists mate, third class. He married Agnes Katherine Quillen on July 26, 1952, at Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Pleasant. From that marriage, he had two daughters, Yvonne and Deirdre. He was self-employed as a lighting sales representative. Tom is survived by two daughters, Yvonne (Richard) Wordell of Kalamazoo and Deirdre (Michael) Crown of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Austin Wordell and Erica and Barry Crown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes in 2004; and brother, Robert Evans in 1973.
