Thomas Flannery, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital. A Funeral Mass for Tom will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday from 4-8 p.m. The Vigil service will begin on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Pardee Cancer Center or to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Tom was born April 27, 1951, in Detroit, son of the late William and Nancy (Carey) Flannery. He married Christine Meabrod on Dec. 10, 1971 in Detroit. He was the manager at Winchester Towers for over 30 years, retiring in March 2014. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish where he served as usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, old movies, spending time outdoors, reading, and following the Detroit Tigers. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and rarely missed a grandchilds special event. Tom is survived by his wife, Christine; four children, Kelly (John) Mogg of Mt. Pleasant, Bill (Katie) Flannery of DeWitt, Maureen (Dallas) Walton of Imlay City and Katie (Tim) Morrow of Rosebush; 13 grandchildren, Jordan, Samantha and Jake Mogg, Nate, Allison, Adam and Casey Flannery, Paige, Logan and Cole Walton, and Madison, Emily and Elizabeth Morrow; two brothers, Terry (Nora) Flannery of Richmond and Jerry (Bonnie) Flannery of Weidman; sister, Julie (Andy) Theisen of Mt. Pleasant; uncle, Mike (Sue) Carey of Canadian Lakes; father-in-law, Henry Meabrod; and in-laws, Henry (Mary Lou) Meabrod, Nancy (Al) Ghesquiere, and Paul (Gail) Meabrod; aunt, Kathleen Montreuil; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and mother-in-law.
