Thomas Kelly, 72, of Owosso and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. A Funeral Mass for Tom will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner presiding. Cremation will follow and his ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Tom was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Detroit, son of the late John Francis and Alice Rose (OMalley) Kelly. After graduating from St. Cecilia High School, Detroit, in 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Marie Meloche on Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. He worked as an engineer at Ford Motor Company in Detroit until he became a State Trooper in 1972. He retired in 1995 as Detective Sergeant. Tom is survived by four children, Lynn (Doug) Morton of Garden City, Thomas Kelly of Easton, PA, Raymond (Amy) Kelly of Edina, MN, and Edward (Mary Jo Horvath) Kelly of Owosso; nine grandchildren, Colin, Evan, and Joseph Morton, Ryan, Brayden, Tristan, and Brigid Kelly, and Katelyn and Spencer Kelly; four siblings, Kathleen (Jack) McGarrigle of North Carolina, Patricia Schroeder of Washington, Jack (Sheila) Kelly of Cleveland and Marilyn (Russ) Scheonherr; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Marie Kelly in 2010; and sister, Arlene Healy.
