Thomas McEvoy, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at his residence. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass for Tom will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bob Byrne as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at the funeral home. His ashes will be interred in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Tom was born September 16, 1933, in Kittanning, PA, son of the late Michael J. and Anna R. (Leibler) McEvoy. A 1952 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Tom married Juyne Radey on February 7, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church. His first job was at Roosevelt Refinery which later became known as Leonard Refinery. In 1967 he purchased The Blackstone which he operated for 25 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a land agent. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the American Legion, Eagles, VFW, Moose Lodge, and Elks Club. Tom is survived by his wife, Juyne; two sons, Jim (Karen) McEvoy of Springville, NY and Dan (Stacey) McEvoy of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Sean (Meghan) McEvoy and Ryan McEvoy; sister, Jeannie (Al) Perkins of Traverse City; two sisters-in-law, Lucy McEvoy of Marco Island, FL and Mary Jo McEvoy of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Ann McEvoy, Betty McEvoy and Sister Madonna (Sarah Jane) McEvoy; and four brothers, Michael Jr., Edward, Robert, and Richard.
