Thomas N. Montreuil, 71, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of St. Clair Shores passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 20, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln, on Monday from 3-8 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norval Morey Cancer Center, Hospice of Central Michigan, or the Heart Association of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Thomas was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Detroit, the son of James and Ann (Maleavey) Montreuil. In 1954 he graduated from St. Pauls High School in Grosse Pointe. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1958, and on March 2, 1984, married Kathleen Kelso in St. Clair Shores. He worked as a model duplicator for 33 years at General Motors Tech. Center, retiring in 1994. He and his wife moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1998 from St. Clair Shores. He was a member of the Fraser VFW and a Fourth Degree member of the Father Solanus Knights of Columbus in Roseville. Some of his favorite pastimes were woodworking, traveling, and stopping at garage sales. Thomas is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Mt. Pleasant; five children, Thomas Montreuil, Mark Montreuil, and Lisa Montreuil, all of Sebring, FL, Kenneth Rouleau of Durand, and Karen Proper of Davison; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Patricia Murphy of Mt. Pleasant and Margaret (Stanley) Brooks of Clinton Twp.; two sisters-in-law, Wilma (William) Nantais of Canada and Debra Montreuil of Rock Island, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and Gerald Montreuil.
