Thomas Vencil Craven

Thomas Craven, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, formally of Weidman, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.  Thomas was born on January 15, 1935, in Bliss, Michigan, son of the late Marion and Sylvia (Park) Craven.  He graduated from Weidman High School in 1953.  Thomas married Janet Yuncker at the Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Pleasant.  Together they raised their seven children in Weidman.  He worked as a produce manager at the A & P store for several years and finished his working career retiring from the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools as a custodian.  Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.  His garden could feed 100 people. Thomas was a 50-year member of the Moose Club and an honorary member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion. He especially loved his family. Thomas is survived by his seven children, Thomas (Diane) Craven, Debbie (Rick Stanton, Rev.) Cook, Connie (Rick) Sandel, Julie (Artie Weathers) Parker-Craven, Lori Craven-Loomis, William Craven and Mike (Julie) Craven; grandchildren, Matt, Ashley, Misty, Jason, Brandon, Tara, Rachael, Leanne, Eric, Jessica, Melinda, Brittany, Christie, Christopher, Jonathan, and Chance; and several great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Sylvia Craven; wife, Janet; and son in law, John Loomis.  Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest in Memorial Gardens Cemetery on a future date.
