Thomas Michael Warfle, 70, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Woodland Hospice House. A Funeral Mass for Thomas will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Tom was born May 18, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, son of Elwyn J. and Josephine Ruth (Mitoska) Warfle. He was an avid outdoorsman, arborist, naturalist, and trout fisherman. He received his undergraduate degree from MSU in Geology and his Masters of Science in Astrophysics from CMU. Toms special gift was his ability to create fun in his everyday environment. He was a memorable individual who lived in the moment, whether it be dancing at a wedding or appreciating the beauty of flowers or a clear woodland trout stream. His family will miss him and the north woods of Michigan are a better place for having held his gaze and for launching his sojourns. Tom is survived by his loving son, Matthew Scott Warfle of Mt. Pleasant; parents, Elwyn (Col. USAF, Retired) and Josephine Warfle of Alexandria VA; sister, Nancey (Christian) DOrazio of Alexandria, VA; brother, Patrick (Jane) Warfle of Alexandria, VA; former wife, Mary Luce of Mt. Pleasant; and his loving, caring cousins from across the state.
