Tim S. Gillis

Tim Gillis, 54, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A meal will be served at the funeral home immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Tim was born Jan. 4, 1961, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Stanley and Loretta (Gorby) Gillis. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1979 and was employed by Delfield for over 20 years. He was an awesome baseball player in his prime. Some of Tims favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, camping (or anything outdoors), playing Euchre, and watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions. His children were his life and he especially enjoyed watching them play sports. Tim is survived by his children, Kara (Tyler) Smalley, Erika Metcalf, Dylan Gillis, and Chevy Gullion, all of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Loretta Gillis of Mt. Pleasant; six siblings, Virgil Gillis of Mt. Pleasaant, Jamie (Lori) Gillis of Mt. Pleasant; Pam (Doug) Winkler of Haslett, Peggy (Greg) ONeil of Lansing, Nancy Gillis of Mt. Pleasant and Pat (Dusty) Gillis of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Stan in 1998; brother, Terry Gillis in 1985; maternal grandmother, Mary Gorby in 2011; and his former wife, Paula Metcalf-Gillis in 2013.
