Tim McQuaid, 43, of Mt. Pleasant died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Byrne presiding. Interment of his ashes will take place in Calvary Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Funeral Home. Tim was born April 21, 1964, in Alma, the son of Fred and Virginia (Pearsall) McQuaid. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1982 and attended Lansing Community College and Central Michigan University. He worked in the food and beverage industry for a variety of restaurants including Frascatis in Naples, Fla., Cheers in Orlando, Fla., and the Pilot House, Dockside Inn, and Virginia Inn, all on Mackinac Island. Most recently he was the program aide at the Vernon Street House in Mt. Pleasant. In 1993 Tim received a tribal letter of commendation for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for reviving a casino patron while employed there. His passion in life was music and he loved playing the guitar. He belonged to the band known as Big Ugly Truck . Tim is survived by his parents, Fred and Virginia McQuaid of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Ann (Steve) Skalitzky of Remus; brother, Mike (Mary Kona) McQuaid of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, Ryon and Sean Skalitzky; niece, Maisie Nicole McQuaid; grand-nephew, Connor Skalitzky; aunts and uncles, Racilla Ryon, Eleanor and Bill Quinlan, Jim and Susie Graham, and Ed and Robin McQuaid; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
