Vera Marie Neubecker

Vera Neubecker, 96, of Beal City passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at her home with family by her side. A Funeral Mass for Vera will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with her son, Father Bill Neubecker, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of St. Joseph Church on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church or School, or to Oblates of the Virgin Mary (2 Ipswich, Boston MA 02215). Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Vera was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Isabella County, daughter of the late Arnold and Eleanor (Yuncker) Halfmann. In 1939 she married Hubert Burman at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Beal City. After his death in 1942, she married Joseph Neubecker in 1948, also at St. Philomena Church. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Parish and was employed by St. Joseph School as a cook for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful homemaker to her family. Vera is survived by nine children, Carol (Gary) Wernette of Weidman, Mary (Dick) Paisley of Gladwin, Father Bill Neubecker of Boston, MA, Ray (Jolene) Neubecker of Oregon, Rose (Earl) Schafer of Weidman, Jane (Brad) Walker of Mt. Pleasant, Margie (Dennie) Logan of Weidman, Kathy (Stan) Shaner of Lake, and Julie (Terry) Hutchinson of Weidman; daughter-in-law, Deb Neubecker of Weidman; 44 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Sharon) Halfmann of Rosebush and Charles Halfmann of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Bernadine Fox of Beal City; sister-in-law, Leona Halfmann of Rosebush; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; infant son, Steve Neubecker, son, Bob Neubecker; brother, Kenneth Halfmann; and in-laws, Earl and Margaret Burman; Ray Fox, Annie Halfmann and Mae Halfmann.
