Virginia Bader, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery in Rosebush. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Michigan Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Virginia was born April 6, 1923, in Isabella County, the daughter of the late William and Florence (Baughn) Whitney. She married George Bader on March 3, 1946, at St. Henry Church. She was employed by Mt. Pleasant Public School as a bus driver for 13 years. She had also worked for Scullys Jewelers. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Women of the Moose, and a life member of St. Henrys Altar Society. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jane (Jerry) Schafer of Mt. Pleasant, five grandchildren, Mindy (Phillip) Schrock, Chad Kandaris, Ginny (Andrew) Jones, William (NTaka) Schafer, and Kellie Schafer; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, William (Jackie) Whitney of Taylor and Gerald (Bertie) Whitney of Warren; four sisters, Rita Staton of St. Clair Shores, Doris (Paul) Lang of Hemit, CA, Donna (Gene) Muniga of Garden City, and Patricia (Dale) Morgan of Lemon Grove, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1977; two daughters, Linda K. Elkins and Deborah Bader; and two brothers, James and Bobby Whitney.
