Virginia Foster, 86, of Midland and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Kindy Adult Foster Care Home in Midland. Her funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant, with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Burial will be in Denver Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Isabella, Gratiot and Clare County Foster Grandparent Program. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ginger was born June 24, 1925, in Midland, daughter of the late Ralph James and Mildred Avis (Roberts) Starks. A graduate of Midland High School in 1943, Ginger attended Saint Marys College in South Bend, IN and Central Michigan University. She was employed as a nurses aide at Central Michigan Community Hospital for 10 years and retired from CMCH Mental Health Department in 1987. She was a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program for 10 years. She enjoyed crocheting, decorating wedding cakes and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Ginger is survived by seven children, John Foster of Midland, Mona Steiner of Osteen, FL, Merrie Foster of Midland, Marilyn (Harold) Lapham of Blanchard, Marian (Ken) Blevins of Deltana, FL, Michele (Lloyd) Brock of St. Louis, and Mildred Alisa (Roberto) Rastelli of Farmington; foster child, Marlene (Lyle) VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Jack (Mary) Starks and Ralph Pooch (Esther) Starks Jr., both of Midland; two half-sisters, Coleen Teeter Varner of Midland and Polly Prince of Sanford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Foster Jr. in 1986; infant daughter, Marlaya; two sisters, Helen Mohowitsch and Marian Walker; and half-sister, Judy Tripp.
