Virginia Phipps, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. Virginia was born May 29, 1927, in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas Earl and Alta Mae (Mahon) Taylor. She married Walter Wayne Phipps on August 23, 1947, in Alma, Michigan. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, former member of the Moose Lodge, and she enjoyed gardening and puzzles. Virginia is survived by two children, Sharon Wieferich of Mt. Pleasant and Walter Wayne (Anna) Phipps Jr. of Lake of the Hills, Weidman; three grandchildren, Matt (Barb) Wieferich, Mark (Vanessa) Wieferich, and Kristen Wieferich; and five great grandchildren, Larissa, Dillon, Alexia, Benjamin, and Michael; one great-great grandchild, Weston; two step-granddaughters, Beth (Timothy) Goralski and Lisa Dye; and five step-great grandchildren, Logan, Christopher, Jacob, Mia, and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Phipps (2007); grandson, John Wieferich (2014); stillborn granddaughter, Michelle Wieferich; and brother, Charles Riley. Virginias service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Chuck Hendrix officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service begins. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Memorial contributions may be made to Community Cancer Services or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
