Wallace W. Nelson, 86, of Ludington died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at his sons home in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Father Ken Schiehtel officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging, 3480 S. Isabella Rd., Mt. Pleasant MI 48858. Wallace was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Ludington, the son of Nels and Clara (Hansen) Nelson. He married Gladys Gorzynski on Sept. 26, 1938 in Ludington. He worked as a carpenter most of his life. In retirement he and his wife co-owned and operated Grannys Attic. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and buying, collecting and refinishing antiques. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Wallace is survived by three children, Robert Nelson of Ludington, Rozanne (Walt) Shogren of Lincoln Park and Michael (JoAnn) Nelson of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Debra Nelson of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys in 2003; son, Daniel in 2004; four brothers; three sisters; one grandson; and twin great-grandsons.
