Walter Howard Sanders, 51, of Mt. Pleasant died Friday, January 6, 2006 at his residence. His Funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Doug Noonkester officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Walter was born August 19, 1954 in Battle Creek. He married Kathryn Johnson on July 27, 1977. He attended M. J. Murphy's Beauty College and was an exceptional hair stylist. He also worked for over 22 years at Robaire's Bakery. He served in the United States Army from September 30, 1971 until his honorable discharge on October 1, 1973. Walter is survived by his wife, Katie of Mt. Pleasant; two step-sons, Kevin Johnson and Derrick Johnson, both of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Georgeann (Jerry) Lucas of St. Louis; his father, Thomas Sanders of Stanton; six brothers, Charles (Sue) Sanders of Irons, Tommy (Sandy) Sanders of Wisconsin, Levi (Sheena) Sanders of Stanton, Daniel (Julie) Sanders of Mt. Pleasant, Ted (Angie) Sanders of Portland, and Tony (Katie) Sanders of Stanton; and two sisters, Rebecca (Larkin) Martinez of North Branch and Donna (John) Thorn of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Keith Johnson; and a brother, Robert Sanders.
