Walter A. Zawacki, 93, of Leaton passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Leaton with Father Don Henkes presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles and St. Henry Parishes. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Walter was born Dec. 20, 1913 in Chicago, IL, the son of Walter and Helen (Shlemp) Zawacki. He married Agnes Lackie on Feb. 25, 1941 at St. Henry Parish in Rosebush. He was employed by Dow Chemical for over 32 years and belonged to the Black Creek Conservation Club. Some of his favorite pastimes were reconstructing bicycles, hunting, fishing, and playing cards and bingo. Walter is survived by his wife of 66 years, Agnes; four children, John Zawacki of Wisconsin, Judy (Al) ONeil of Clare, Gloria (Don) Moeggenberg of Shepherd, and Tom (Dianne) Zawacki of Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Zawacki; daughter, Frances Ley; granddaughter, Julie Tiedeman; and four brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Clarence, and Bruno.
