Warren Long, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, Florida. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Steve Shugert officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Shriners Hospital for Children. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Warren was born June 19, 1937, in Tupelo, AR, the son of the late Vestal Z. and Ruby Agnes (Barnard) Long. He married Colleen Marie Dugan on Sept. 29, 1956, at First Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. For 35 years he was employed as an oil tool specialist before retiring in 1994. He also owned and operated a pizza and restaurant business for 10 years. After selling the business, he worked for Wal-Mart until his health began to fail. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, fishing, gardening, and attending auctions. He belonged to the Masons Lodge, Wabon #305. Warren is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Colleen; three children, Terrance Long of Castro Valley, CA, Tamara (Thomas) Esch of Naples, FL, and Tonya (Mark) Sellers of Remus; three grandchildren, Taylor Sellers, Zackary Sellers and James Esch; six siblings, Lillie Mae Bacus of Little Rock, AR, JD Buddy Summers of Jonesboro, AR, Helen Bush of Cypress, CA, Riggie (Les) Toddy of Las Vegas, NV, Carolyn Rich of Longview, TX and Jack (Becky) Long of Columbus, GA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Long.
