Wayne Lawrence Atkinson, age 72, of Weidman passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Wayne was born on November 16, 1942 to Lawrence M and Dorothy B (Lennox) Atkinson in Mt. Pleasant, MI.He was raised in the Mt. Pleasant area. He worked for General Motors as a forklift driver for 30 years. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and he especially enjoyed picking on people. He was a member of the Mt Pleasant Eagles #4463.

Wayne is survived by his son, Randy Atkinson; daughter, Julie (Tim) Bush; loving friend, Renee; 5 grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd (Marcia) Atkinson, Darl (Theresa) Atkinson and Elton (Jane) Atkinson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents; son, Ricky Atkinson and one grandchild.

A funeral service for Wayne will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Maier Family Funeral Home in Weidman at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brandon Metzger officiating. The family will greet visitors at a visitation on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.and also on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Chippewa Township Cemetery.
