Wendell E. White, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 9, 1942, in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the son of the late Willard White and Juanita (Snider) Hart, who later married Carl Hart, becoming Wendell's beloved stepfather.
Wendell was a 1960 graduate of Avondale High School in Auburn Hills. On June 22, 1963, Wendell married the love of his life, Mary Jo Wright, at St. Michael's Church in Pontiac. Their union was blessed with three sons, Robert, Stephen, and Todd.
Wendell had a strong work ethic and spent much of his career in the automotive industry, where he was respected for his dedication and skill. Beyond work, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the simple joy of time spent outdoors. His greatest joy, however, came from time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless smiles to his face.
Wendell was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish and a proud member of the Elks Lodge, where he built lasting friendships and took pride in giving back to the community.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Mary Jo; his son Todd (Amy) White; and his cherished grandchildren: Sydney, Ava, and Tanner. He is also survived by his brother Ronald White; stepbrother Richard (Karen) Hart; and many nieces and nephews.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Willard White and Juanita (Snider) Hart; stepfather, Carl Hart; infant son, Robert White; son, Stephen White; brother, Dell White; sister, Glendola Cedillo; and stepbrother, Kenneth Hart.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Wendell's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Andy Booms will preside. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday one hour before Mass. Following the Mass, all are invited to a luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). Memorial Contributions may be made to Care Team Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home.
Wendell will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
