William Mark Mcclintic

William Mark McClintic, age 80, of Mount Pleasant, MI and Boyne City MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 30th in Midland, Michigan with his family by his side. Bill was a devoted husband to Pam, and a loving Father to Gavin and Trevor. Bill was born on November 30th, 1943, in Mount Pleasant to Burke McClintic and Virginia (Bissell) McClintic. Bill spent his childhood and teen years growing up in Mt. Pleasant, attended Mt. Pleasant High School where he was a stand-out athlete and the quarterback of the football team, graduating in 1962. He attended Hillsdale College and graduated in 1966. He earned his Juris Doctor from The Detroit College of Law in 1971 and joined the family law business as the third generation of McClintic Attorneys in Mt. Pleasant in 1971, which started his life-long career practicing law.

While both attending Hillsdale College, Bill met the love of his life, Pamela Grace Schmedes. They dated for 2 years before being joined in marriage on August 27th, 1966, in Mamaroneck New York. They moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1971 and there they raised their two sons and many family pets. Bill and his family loved to spend time together and enjoyed much fun and laughter, as well as amazing experiences including travel, and hosting several foreign exchange students. Some of the best of these adventures and memories are from the time spent at their family cottage in Boyne City on Lake Charlevoix, where you would find Bill grilling his very popular, signature Fourth of July Turkey.

Bill was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He loved to cook, tinker and fix things (but only with directions!) and loved hunting and fishing. A special part of Bill's life was his time spent with friends, his sons, and his grandsons at "Deer Camp" hunting and enjoying "Deer Camp" festivities. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family, watching his grandsons play sports, and truly enjoyed every moment with his wife, Pam. They celebrated 58 years of marriage and were truly lifelong Sweethearts. Bill was a one-in-a-million father, earning the name "Pops" very early on. Just ask his sons - no one could give guidance and advice, make a joke, and make you feel more loved than anyone in the world - all in one conversation - like Bill could. And if you ask his daughters in-law, Maegan and Rachel, they will tell you that his sense of humor was the best in the world.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pam; his sons Gavin (Rachel) McClintic of Mt. Pleasant, and Trevor (Maegan) McClintic of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons Collin Fussman (Olivia Clark), William McClintic, Grady McClintic, and Flynn McClintic, all of Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving are sisters in-law Susan Dando of Providence Rhode Island, and Valerie Schmedes of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; nieces and nephews Cicely McClintic, Tammy Sysco, Terri Duzenbury, Don Duzenbury, Burke Duzenbury, Holly Dando, Evan Dando, Lindsay Schmedes-Duffy, and Tim Schmedes; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Bill also leaves 2 very special friends, Sid Smith and Bart Labelle.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike McClintic, sister Kay Duzenbury, brother in-law Henry "Skippy" Schmedes, and nephew Charles "Chaz" McClintic.

Bill will be missed for his loving and kind nature, his sense of humor, his knack for coming up with the best nicknames, his ability to tell a great story, and for being a friend to all. The family invites all to come Celebrate Bill's Life and share their own "Bill Story" on Monday, May 13th, from 2:00 - 8:00 pm at Wood Shop Social Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant.

Bill's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of MyMichigan Health Center in Midland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
