William C. Preuss, 66, of Lake Isabella, Michigan, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland with his family by his side. He was born August 4, 1953, in Hemlock, Michigan, son of the late Clare and Lucille (Flowers) Preuss. He was a lifelong resident of Hemlock until his retirement in the spring of 2015. As a young boy he attended St. Peter Lutheran School in Hemlock and was a proud member of the 1971 Hemlock High School graduating class. After graduation he was employed by various car repair and auto dealerships as a dispatcher, service writer, service dissector, and assistant body shop manager. He married Susan Arft, the girl who stole his heart, on August 26, 1983, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Upon retirement he and Sue moved to their cottage where he loved living lake life. He fished, socialized with neighbors, toured the subdivision on the golf cart, and captained his beloved pontoon boat daily during boating season. He also enjoyed being involved in local government by serving on the Lake Isabella Planning Commission and as an elected member of the Charter Review Committee. Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan, their son, Cory and his wife Laura, of Grand Rapids, and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Ryan. He is also survived by his brother Dan and his wife, Brenda, of Hemlock, niece, Dana (and Kraig) Sherman and their sons, Siler and Easton, and by niece/goddaughter, Amy Preuss, along with many cousins. Per Bills wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life and a meal in his honor will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at Lincoln Reception Center (2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant). The family will begin greeting friends at 12 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hemlock or the American Cancer Society. Bill was a very special person. He never met a stranger and everyone who knew him loved him. We need to find a cure for cancer as yet another great person has been taken from us. Rest in peace Billy. You fought the good fight and can now reap the rewards of the faithful.
