William Michael Pung

William Pung, 74, of Beal City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his home. A Funeral Mass for Bill will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a luncheon following at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker School or Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Bill was born May 16, 1941, in Isabella County, son of the late Bernard and Blanche (Finnerty) Pung. He graduated from Beal City High School in 1959 and received an Associates Degree in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning from Ferris College in Big Rapids. On January 18, 1964, he married the love of his life, Beverly Cameron, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He was employed by Central Michigan University in heating & cooling and maintenance for 31 years, retiring in 2003. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church where he was an altar server in his youth and later served as Eucharistic Minister. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly; two daughters, Brenda (David) Rau and Marcia (David) McCoy, both of Beal City; four grandchildren, Grace and Anna Rau and Brooke and Wyatt McCoy; six siblings, Mary Jo Hoffman of Mt. Pleasant, Jeanette (Dale) Gatehouse of Lake Isabella, Wendell (Bonnie) Pung of DeWitt, Bernadette (Jonn) Bland of Mt. Pleasant, Michael (Loretta) Pung of Mt. Pleasant, and Cathy McConkie of Shepherd; mother-in-law, Erma Cameron; and in-laws, Melvin (Barb) Cameron of Coldwater Lake, Donna (Larry) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, and Dick (Linda) Cameron of Lake Isabella; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Tom Hoffman.
